Crunchy Bridge is a database-first service with a Montreal region on AWS, included point-in-time recovery, read replicas and an HA option. Crunchy Data was acquired by Snowflake. Canner is smaller in scope on availability but puts the app, database, cron and storage together under Canadian ownership.

When Canner is the right call
If you want the app and the database on one Canadian-owned platform, with one bill in CAD and Postgres included from the free plan up, Canner is the simpler shape. Off-site copies to your own buckets, following an external server and scheduled SQL come with it. Be plain about what it is not: Canner has no HA, no automatic failover, no read replicas and one region, and its point-in-time recovery restores into a new database.
When Crunchy Bridge still makes sense
If the database is the critical piece and you need high availability, read replicas, or point-in-time recovery included in the base price, Crunchy Bridge offers all three and has a Montreal region. It is the stronger choice for a production database whose uptime matters more than where the app runs. Check with them how Snowflake ownership fits your jurisdiction requirements.
